Home Latest News News Supporting a Connected Future for Active Travel: Falco Welcomes Mayoral Commitment to Walking, Wheeling and Cycling

Falco welcomes the recent joint statement from the Mayors of England’s Combined Authorities, setting out a shared commitment to transform walking, wheeling and cycling across the country. With an initial focus on the school run, the vision to deliver more than 3,500 miles of safer routes connecting schools with neighbourhoods, high streets and transport hubs represents a significant step towards healthier, more sustainable communities.
This integrated approach to mobility is designed to encourage 20 million people to become more active daily, while also supporting wider goals such as new housing development and local economic growth. This closely aligns with Falco’s experience working with local authorities, schools, transport providers and community organisations across the UK.
As a long-standing supporter of active travel, Falco naturally supports this drive to create healthier and more connected communities. We believe that accessible, high-quality cycling and walking infrastructure is a vital component in achieving these aims.
As part of the evolving mobility landscape, the role of secure and accessible cycle parking continues to grow. Through our own design and manufacturing, Falco supports these aims with a wide range of secure cycle parking systems and shelters, tailored to suit a variety of environments and budgets.
Supporting the vision of a joined-up transport network, our latest technology enables cyclists and students to access a range of secure parking locations - from school bike sheds and local neighbourhood cycle stores to larger mobility cycle hubs - using a single mobile app. This approach helps to create an integrated network of secure parking facilities, encouraging active travel and providing greater convenience for cyclists across different settings.
From our work with schools, NHS hospitals, transport hubs and local authorities across the UK, we understand the importance of delivering practical, cost-effective infrastructure that fits within a broad range of budgets. Infrastructure that helps families and young people safely complete the school run is already at the heart of many of the projects we support.
The vision shared by the Mayors – one of well-connected, people-first streets and integrated transport networks – is one we strongly endorse. We look forward to continuing to work alongside local authorities and community partners in turning this vision into a reality.
