Falco’s HGV vehicles have been fitted with indirect vision improvements and have been granted a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) HGV Safety Permit in order to make safer deliveries in Greater London.
Falco is unique in running its own fleet of cycle parking delivery and installation vehicles and as part of the company vehicle fleet upgrade, Falco HGV’s underwent improved signage to the side and rear of each vehicle, installation of a nearside sensor and camera system with in cab screen, audible left turn alarm, off-side, forward facing and rear facing camera and recordable hard drive.
The world leading new Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is part of the Mayor of London’s plans to eliminate death and serious injury on London’s transport network. Using a star system, the DVS will rate HGVs from zero (lowest) to five (highest) stars, based on how much a driver can see directly through their HGV cab windows. Restrictions in the HGV driver’s field of vision, or ‘blind spots’ have been identified as a significant contributory factor in collisions with vulnerable road users, such as people walking and cycling.
The latest addition supports the existing fleet of delivery vehicles and forms part of a wider strategic plan of investments into our manufacturing, delivery and installation departments which also include a new delivery vehicle for our FalcoPod Bike Hangar schemes.
