Falco is proud to celebrate the fantastic efforts of Lisa Berrisford, Office Administrator, who raised £155 for the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK by completing an inspiring personal challenge throughout February.
Lisa committed to dancing for at least 20 minutes every single day for 28 consecutive days, embracing a mix of disco, jazz and Charleston along the way. Her dedication and consistency across the entire month not only demonstrated real commitment, but also brought energy and positivity to an important cause.
Explaining her motivation, Lisa said she was inspired by the courage and bravery of Dame Deborah James, widely known as ‘The Bowel Babe’. A young mother of two, Dame Deborah was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer and went on to become a powerful campaigner, raising awareness of the disease and encouraging others to seek early diagnosis. Her fundraising efforts have since raised over £11 million towards vital clinical trials. In recognition of her impact, she was made a Dame by Prince William, who visited her at home shortly before her passing.
Lisa took part in the ‘Bowelbabe Dance 20 Minutes a Day’ challenge, which was created to continue Dame Deborah’s incredible legacy. Reflecting on the experience, Lisa added that it was also “any excuse for a kitchen boogie,” bringing a sense of enjoyment alongside the fundraising effort.
The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK is a charitable fund established by the late Dame Deborah James in May 2022 to support cutting-edge bowel cancer research, raise awareness of symptoms, and tackle cancer stigmas. It has raised over £11 million to fund projects focused on early detection, personalised medicine, and more effective treatments.
