Falco delivers sustainable transport solutions across two pioneering departments.
This summer, Falco was delighted to support the University of Oxford — one of the world’s leading academic institutions — with the delivery of two innovative cycle parking solutions, tailored to meet the growing demands of sustainable travel and e-mobility.
The first installation took place at the Institute of Developmental & Regenerative Medicine, where Falco manufactured, supplied, and installed a comprehensive mix of cycle parking facilities. This included 60 spaces of FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle racks and 15 Sheffield stands, providing flexible options for both staff and visitors. The installation helps to support the University's wider active travel strategy by making secure, high-capacity cycle parking more accessible across the campus.
In a separate project for the Department of Earth Sciences, Falco installed three FalcoCharge-Vault XL fire-safe eBike battery charging lockers—a cutting-edge solution designed to offer safe, secure, and ventilated charging for electric bike batteries. Engineered with safety at its core, each unit is fitted with explosion-resistant compartments and smoke extraction vents that safely disperse hazardous fumes outdoors in the unlikely event of thermal runaway. These lockers not only provide secure, individually lockable charging bays for eBike users but also align with strict fire safety protocols, offering peace of mind to both cyclists and facility managers. The University of Oxford’s adoption of this forward-thinking technology reinforces its role as a leader in embracing safe and sustainable mobility solutions on campus.
Each locker features dedicated smoke exhaust ducts to expel fumes safely outdoors, further reinforcing the department’s commitment to safety and innovation in sustainable transport.
