This is the new eye-catching cycle hub recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco for Newham University NHS Hospital in Plaistow, East London.
Commissioned by the hospital for staff use, the cycle hub is positioned in a prominent location opposite the Emergency Department entrance and puts cycling at the forefront of transport innovation at the hospital.
The 16m cycle hub, powder coated in an attractive NHS blue, is based on Falco’s best-selling FalcoLok design. The cycle hub has been fitted with an automatic door, 50 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking, twelve Sheffield Stands for cargo and adaptive bikes, low power LED lighting and finished off with some eye catching branding graphics.
The two-tier cycle racks are housed in a bespoke contemporary design of the classic Falco Cycle Hub shelter, which features clean lines through the glass cladding supported by stainless steel glass clamps. The whole shelter is hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and then polyester powder coated in RAL 5012 Light Blue. Rainwater is collected via innovative integral gutters as part of the roof system and a bespoke bund ensure that the cycle hub is weather proof.
Attractive and eye catching branding graphics create a bold statement around the positive impact of cycling and helps to really advertise commuting to work by bike amongst the hospital workforce!
The contemporary cycle store is manufactured from a combination of powder coated steel and laminated glass and designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding area. The FalcoHub was developed by Falco’s in house design team to ensure it met the client’s specification including structural calculations so that the whole design meets the UK/European CPR regulations EN1090 and is CE marked as per UK law.
The popular FalcoHub design has been used across the UK for secure cycle and waiting hubs including; the capitals first series of community cycle hubs as part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest Mini Holland Programme, a bespoke cycle hub and 32m waiting shelter at Derby Midland Station, Northern Ireland’s first ever cycle hub for software company Allstate and recent cycle hub installations at Hull, Birmingham International, Dewsbury, Irlam and Upminster stations.
