The Government’s recently announced Active Travel Innovation Fund, which offers grants of up to £100,000 to small and medium-sized businesses and NGOs, represents a bold step forward in accelerating walking, wheeling and cycling initiatives across England. Falco has been working with Qi Managed services Ltd to integrate their ‘Dock Lock Charge’ e-bike/e-scooter charging stations within our hubs and hangars. ‘Dock Lock Charge’ goal is to implement a universal, Micromobility EV charging and docking standard, across UK towns and cities. ARUP’s recent government report ‘Tomorrows Public Transport System’ Mobility hubs, note that docking stations and charging infrastructure should be designed to be universally used by multiple operators rather than proprietary solutions. In a move which begins to bring the UK in line with our European neighbours, the UK DfT has updated the rules for all types of road users in The Highway Code to improve the safety of people walking, cycling and riding horses. The changes which apply to England, Scotland and Wales were made to The Highway Code on Saturday 29 January 2022 and include a range of measures to protect and promote cycling and walking. The event took place at Falco’s UK office in Leekbrook where all staff members, including many long serving employees, celebrated an incredible 30 year anniversary and cut the Falco cake! Falco’s Finance Manager and longest ever serving employee, Jeanette Barlow, celebrates her 20th anniversary this week! Jeanette joined Falco back in January 2002 as an Accounts Clerk, before moving to other departments including administration and PA duties, before re-joining the Accounts department back in 2009. Over the course of the next few years Jeanette studied at Newcastle-under-Lyme College and Manchester BBP study centre, undertook 12 separate exams and hundreds of hours of distance learning, before graduating as a Chartered Management Accountant in 2019. In addition to becoming a Chartered Accountant, Jeanette was shortlisted for both the PQ Magazine Part Qualified student of the year 2018 and newly qualified Accountant of the year 2019.
