The Government’s recently announced Active Travel Innovation Fund, which offers grants of up to £100,000 to small and medium-sized businesses and NGOs, represents a bold step forward in accelerating walking, wheeling and cycling initiatives across England. Falco, a leading manufacturer and supplier of secure cycle parking systems, cycle racks, shelters, cycle hubs and bike hangars, applauds the initiative and is positioning itself as a capable partner for any organisation or business preparing a bid. The fund, part of the government’s “Plan for Change,” invites proposals that deliver new or expanded active travel ideas — especially those targeting under-represented communities, leveraging digital tools, or working in partnership with local authorities. Applications are open from 6 October to 14 November, for 12-month projects with evaluation...
We are delighted that Falco’s HGV Driver, Simon Edge, has raised £320 for Cancer Research UK, by participating in the ‘100 Push Ups Challenge’ each day throughout November. The definitive bodyweight challenge is a real test of upper-body muscles, especially the chest, shoulders and triceps, which aims to complete 100 push ups a day, for a set period of time, which in Simons case, was every day throughout the month of November. Discussing the challenge, Simon explained “I just saw the challenge pop up on a social media site and it was not long after my Wife’s Aunty was diagnosed with terminal cancer. So, without really thinking about it, I signed up for the challenge with only 5 days to practice. After...
That time of year is upon us, the temperature is dropping and the snow is falling, fortunately that won’t stop us from accessing our bike hangar. Here is our quick guide to keep you cycling this winter: Frozen Bike Hangar Lock During the winter, when the temperature drops below zero, it is possible for water, dew or condensation to enter the lock mechanism and freeze. Locks and icy weather are not an ideal combination, as all locks, including infralocks (as used within our FalcoPod bike hangars), use complex mechanisms with springs, pins and bars. During our planned maintenance visits, we do complete certain preventative tasks ready for winter, but frozen locks can still occur. If your bike hangar lock is likely to be...

As a member of the Bicycle Association (BA), Falco has been working with both the BA and the Cycle Rail Working Group (CRWG) to help shape the new LTN 1/20 UK quality and security standards for public cycle parking. Announced at the beginning of 2020, the Local Transport Note (LTN) 1/20, is a Department for Transport (DfT) national guidance document that details standards expected of new cycle infrastructure. The document embraces the principles of policy ‘Gear Change’ of July 2020, which set out the actions required to radically increase active travel. LTN 1/20 sets out the minimum standards for local authorities and highway engineers when implementing new cycle infrastructure and includes, but not limited to, cycle crossings and junctions, cycle lanes, cycle tracks,...
Falco cycle parking employees have raised £450 for the Trussell Trust’s first ever large scale emergency fundraising appeal - to help meet unprecedented demand and keep its 1,300 food bank network operating this winter. We are delighted (and astonished!) that Falco’s Managing Director, Rob Harper and Finance Manager, Netty Barlow, has (yet again) raised an incredible £780 for Cancer Research UK, by participating in the Stoke-on-Trent Pretty Muddy 5k ‘obstacle mud run’ event at Central Forest Park in Hanley on Sunday 17th July. Netty and Rob both put their best foot forward and joined hundreds of adults and children to tackle a 5k muddy obstacle course, hurdling over obstacles into piles of mud, weaving through spiders webs, scaling climbing frames, crawling through tunnels, scrambling nets and mud pits and finally racing down an inflatable mud chute! After the event Rob said “I really enjoyed taking part in the event as cancer has such an effect on so many...
