Edinburgh Napier University Receives Falco Two-Tier Cycle Parking

Falco has successfully completed the manufacture, supply and installation of 38 FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle parking spaces at Edinburgh Napier University’s Merchiston Campus, helping to enhance secure cycle parking provision for students, staff and visitors. The FalcoLevel-Premium+ is designed to maximise cycle parking capacity while maintaining a smooth and user-friendly experience, making it ideal for high-demand environments such as universities, transport hubs and city centre developments. The premium system features lightweight aluminium upper trays, premium handles and gas strut assistance to make lifting and storing bicycles on the upper level both safe and straightforward. As part of the project, Falco also removed the existing Sheffield Stands from the installation area to allow for the new high-capacity two-tier system to be introduced. By replacing traditional cycle stands with the FalcoLevel-Premium+, Edinburgh Napier University has been able to significantly increase the number of secure cycle parking spaces available within the same footprint. To enhance the facilities further, Falco manufacture cycle repair stands, pumps and E bike charging units that can be retro fitted to our existing range of two-tier cycle racks. The installation supports the university’s wider sustainability and active travel objectives by encouraging cycling as a practical and convenient transport option across campus. High-capacity cycle parking solutions such as the FalcoLevel-Premium+ are becoming increasingly important within educational environments, where demand for secure cycle storage continues to grow. Falco continues to work with universities, colleges and educational institutions across the UK to deliver tailored cycle parking infrastructure designed to meet the needs of modern campuses, from initial design through to manufacture and professional installation.

High-Density Vertical Cycle Parking Installed for Prestigious Mayfair Development

Falco has successfully completed the supply and installation of a high-capacity vertical cycle parking solution for a prestigious development located at 38 Hertford Street in the heart of Mayfair, London. The scheme features 43 VelowUp® automatic bicycle lift vertical cycle parking spaces alongside three traditional Sheffield Stands, creating a compact yet highly practical cycle parking facility within a space-restricted city centre environment. Designed specifically for locations where available space is at a premium, the VelowUp® system enables bicycles to be stored vertically using an assisted lifting mechanism, helping to maximise capacity while maintaining ease of use for cyclists. The innovative system can save up to 40% more space compared with traditional cycle parking layouts, making it particularly well suited to dense urban developments, offices, residential schemes and basement cycle stores. The VelowUp® automatic lifting mechanism assists users when storing and retrieving bicycles, reducing the effort typically associated with vertical cycle parking systems. The solution is also designed to accommodate a wide range of bicycle types, including e-bikes, while maintaining secure and organised cycle storage. The system can also be supplied where wall space isn’t available with an aluminium framing system that the VelowUp® is mounted to which means it has unlimited possibilities for locations. To complement the high-density vertical parking system, Falco also installed three Sheffield Stands, providing additional flexible cycle parking for visitors and short-stay users. This latest installation highlights Falco’s continued expertise in delivering space-efficient cycle parking solutions for premium developments and complex urban environments, supporting the growing demand for secure and sustainable transport infrastructure across central London.

Wandsworth Bike Hangar

London Borough of Wandsworth is the Latest Local Authority to Receive a Network of FalcoPod Bike Hangars

The London Borough of Wandsworth is the latest local authority to receive a network of the UK’s most user-friendly bike hangar design - the FalcoPod. Falco is delighted to be working with the South West London Council to roll-out their next phase of residential bike hangars, providing convenient on-street cycle parking for resident use. The London Borough of Wandsworth, in conjunction with the London Borough of Richmond, identified a significant demand for secure, reliable bike storage within the borough. Many residents do not have access to private bike storage, and this lack of secure parking has often deterred people from cycling, especially in urban areas where bike theft is a common concern. To support the uptake of cycling and improve overall sustainability, the borough decided to invest in a public bike hangar scheme to provide residents with a secure, affordable option for storing their bikes. Located at key residential areas across the Borough, including Glasford Street, Victoria Drive and Stella Road, Falco manufactured and installed a series of 35 FalcoPod bike hangars, providing six on-street cycle parking spaces per bike hangar, whilst only utilising one car parking space. Each bike hangar is powder-coated in RAL 5003 Sapphire Blue, a colour that blends seamlessly with the local environment and enhances the visual appeal of the urban landscape. The hangars feature secure locking systems, providing peace of mind to residents and making them ideal for long-term use in public spaces. As well as manufacture and installation, Falco is also providing a fully managed service with both key Rental Management for the residents and bike hangar maintenance on behalf of the London Borough of Wandsworth Highways and Infrastructure team. The Falco Rentals website enables Ealing residents to look for free spaces in the FalcoPod Bike Hangar network, book an available space and pay online, all in one place. The Falco Rentals website also provides a useful video along with other ideas and tips on safely looking after a bike. In addition to the Bike Hangars for Wandsworth Council, Falco is also providing managed Bike Hangar services for the London Borough of Ealing, Camden, Merton, Kensington and Chelsea, Lewisham, Richmond, as well as Bath & North East Somerset Council and Sheffield City Council.

Solar-Powered e-Bike Cycle Parking Installed on the Isle of Arran

Falco has successfully delivered a sustainable cycle parking solution for North Ayrshire Council with the installation of a 4m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter at Brodick Public Hall in Brodick. Designed to complement its surroundings, the shelter features FSC® certified hardwood cladding, providing a natural, high-quality finish while maintaining durability and long-term performance. The installation accommodates up to six bicycles using traditional Sheffield Stands, offering a simple, secure and widely recognised cycle parking solution suitable for a range of users. Enhancing the scheme further, Falco also supplied and installed a Solarcycle e-Bike Solar Charging Station, supporting the growing uptake of electric bicycles. The unit is powered by solar panels integrated into the FalcoZan-180 roof structure, enabling users to charge e-bikes using renewable energy generated on-site. This innovative approach allows the facility to operate independently of mains electricity, making it both environmentally friendly and cost-efficient. The open and spacious FalcoZan-180 shelter fits seamlessly with the Solarcycle system, providing the client with solar-powered and off-grid e-bike charging – a system that requires no mains connection or trenchworks and generates no ongoing energy costs, providing free e-bike charging for all staff. The collaboration with Solarcycle showcases Falco UK’s dedication to pioneering innovation and constant evolution of its cycle hubs and shelters to support businesses and organisations in their decarbonisation efforts. Solarcycle’s unique Reporting Function tracks the kWh of free, 100% renewable solar energy dispensed, enabling organisations to estimate how many carbonless miles have been generated by the organisation. The annual CO2 savings from carbon-free commuting with e-bike travel and Solarcycle charging are substantial. An organisation with 25 employees and a 15% e-bike adoption rate can save 3,252,000g of CO2 annually. This saving increases to 16,260,000g of CO2 for an organisation with 100 employees and reaches a staggering 731,700,000g of CO2 for an organisation with 4,500 employees. The project demonstrates how cycle parking infrastructure can be combined with sustainable technology to support modern travel demands, particularly in community-focused locations such as public halls and shared spaces. By delivering a fully integrated solution, including manufacture, supply and installation, Falco continues to support local authorities in creating accessible, secure and forward-thinking cycle parking facilities that encourage active and sustainable travel. Falco Continues the Roll-Out of Secure Bike Hangars for the London Borough of Ealing

Falco is continuing its partnership with the London Borough of Ealing with the rollout of a further ten Diamond accredited FalcoPod Bike Hangars, strategically located across the borough and building on the success of previous installations. This latest phase of works reinforces Ealing’s ongoing commitment to expanding secure, on-street cycle parking for residents, helping to support active travel and reduce reliance on car journeys. By increasing the availability of convenient, local cycle storage, the scheme aims to make cycling a more practical and attractive option for everyday journeys. These new additions to the Falco rental portfolio build upon the success of earlier deployments, including the rollout of 55 FalcoPod hangars, each providing six secure cycle parking spaces within the footprint of half a single car parking bay, giving residents convenient, accessible and weather-protected storage right outside their homes. The compact yet robust design makes the FalcoPod an ideal solution for urban areas where outdoor space is limited, while helping councils to support sustainable travel. Each of the newly installed FalcoPod Bike Hangars provides secure, sold secure Diamond accredited, high-density cycle parking within a compact footprint, making them ideal for residential streets where space is often limited. The additional units will further enhance the borough’s growing network of secure cycle parking infrastructure. Operated and managed through Falco’s integrated service—covering everything from installation to rental management and maintenance - these hangars are at the heart of efforts to encourage cycling as a viable, everyday travel option. Unlike previous installations, these FalcoPods operate using a traditional key access system, removing the need for app-based entry. This approach offers a simple, reliable and accessible solution for residents, ensuring ease of use for a wide range of users. Manufactured from durable steel and engineered for maximum security, the FalcoPod is fitted with a high-security lock with newly upgraded hardened steel cylinder and features Sold Secure Diamond accreditation. The latest generation of FalcoPods can also be supplied with smart technology, such as app-based access, internal LED lighting and e-bike charging points, to further enhance user convenience. FalcoPods are designed and manufactured to provide robust protection against theft and vandalism, giving users confidence that their bicycles are stored safely. Their proven design and durability have made them a popular choice for local authorities across the UK looking to expand residential cycle parking provision. Falco continues to work closely with local authorities such as Ealing to deliver tailored cycle parking solutions that meet the needs of local communities, supporting the ongoing shift towards more sustainable modes of transport.
