Falco has completed the roll-out of a new tranche of cycle parking facilities across East Midlands Railway’s Uttoxeter, Boston and Long Eaton stations. The scheme which got underway at the start of this year involved the manufacture, supply and installation of a number of cycle parking facilities with associated shelters to allow commuters and visitors to securely park their bikes whilst on the go. Two key products of this tranche of the East Midlands Railway scheme includes the open and spacious FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter and the UK’s leading FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack, providing mass, sheltered and secure cycle parking across the network. To date, Falco has supplied the East Midlands Railway network with the following cycle parking infrastructure: Station Facility Long Eaton FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter with FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle racks to securely accommodate 36 bikes.   Uttoxeter FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter with with FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle racks to securely accommodate 18 bikes.   Boston Bespoke FalcoLok secure store with FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle racks to accommodate 16 bikes.   The FalcoLevel-Premium+ as installed at all three East Midlands Railway stations, is the UK’s most user friendly two-tier cycle parking system which makes use of both steel and aluminium to create a significant reduction in noise pollution and a much smoother transition of the upper tier. The FalcoZan-180 shelter, as installed at two stations, is a straightforward two-tier cycle rack shelter manufactured from a combination of hot-dip galvanised steel and sustainable hardwood slats. The University of Bristol has recently taken delivery of six FalcoCargoBox lockers, creating the UK’s first ever network of secure cargo bike parking. Located across five separate sites at the University, each locker provides unparalleled secure storage for a wide range of cycles including cargo bikes, e-cargo bikes, adaptive bikes, recumbent bikes, tandems, tricycles, oversized and upright cycles as well as bike trailers. The six supplied lockers mark the UK’s first ever network of secure cargo bike parking and the fourth public cargo bike facility installed by Falco, with other schemes including a Beryl public cargo bike hire scheme for the London Borough of Hackney, a secure cargo bike solution for NHS Grampian and a public cargo bike hire scheme for Climate Action Ilkley. The large double doors at the front of the locker coupled with a gas-assisted lid, provide wide accessibility for a variety of cargo bike shapes and sizes. Introduced in 2021, the FalcoCargoBox was designed to provide secure cycle parking for the increasing trend for cargo and adaptive bikes and is the only product of its type currently available in the UK. The FalcoCargobox is simple and easy to use. Two securely locked front doors open to provide easy accessibility from the front and an innovative gas-strut assisted lid can be opened to provide easy accessibility from above. These are the latest secure FalcoPod bike hangars installed this month at the new Harper Collins Publishers editorial office and distribution at Robroyston in Glasgow, which is currently the largest logistics development project in Scotland. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed a series of ten secure FalcoPod Bike Hangars, a 12m FalcoQuarter waiting shelter run and a secure FalcoLok-500 refuse store. Each FalcoPod bike hangar provides secure cycle parking for up to six bikes each, providing a total of 60 secure cycle parking spaces for employee use. Each bike hangar has been supplied with instructional signage, powder coated in a Harper Collins blue RAL colour and Harper Collins branding graphics. Installed outside the main entrance, each secure bike hangar takes up no more room than a single car parking space and is capable of accommodating all types of cycles - from road and mountain bikes to bikes with a child seat on the back or storage basket on the front. A 12m waiting and smoking shelter has been installed next to the bike hangars, made up of a series of three 4m FalcoQuarter shelters, one starter section and two add-on sections. The modular nature of the FalcoQuarter allows additional shelters bays to be added or removed in the future. A secure 5m x 4m FalcoLok-500 refuse store has also been installed next to the waiting shelter, clad in sustainable hardwood slats and fitted with double doors and a secure access system. FalcoPod Bike Hangar   The FalcoPod bike hangar, as shown here at Harper Collins Publications, is a robust on-street cycle parking solution designed to meet the needs of cyclists who don’t have access to private cycle parking facilities. The improved innovative shape means that users no longer have to remove some baskets or child seats when storing their bike! Falco design is both evolutionary and innovative by nature and the new FalcoPod is no exception. This is the third generation of ‘bike hangar’ type product building on the pedigree of the original street locker the ‘Midi Bike Box’ with some great new features over existing products as follows: Size - fits in half a car parking space and houses 6 bikes, with covered weather protection. Family inclusive – with an ergonomically improved design, the additional space/height (55% more) means there is no need to remove child seats or baskets from the back or front of bikes. Bike security - the six place FalcoSound bike rack has three locking points including the ability to use a ‘D’ lock through the rear wheel and frame. Manchester Piccadilly Station has received a huge cycling boost after Falco manufactured and installed a series of 228 mixed-use cycle parking spaces across five separate areas at the north west city’s principal railway station. Working in conjunction with Network Rail, TfGM and Avanti West Coast, the scheme involved the manufacture, supply and installation of a number of mixed-use cycle parking systems with associated canopies, along with the provision of a cycle repair and maintenance station to allow commuters to carry out cycle maintenance whilst on the go. Falco provided station operator, Network Rail, with feasibility studies, completed landlords consent submission, contract planning and worked with station staff and stakeholders to re-configure the stations CCTV systems to ensure full coverage of the new cycle racks. Falco provided a full turn key solution, including required civil engineering works and hand back documentation to ultimately deliver the full implementation of the new cycle parking infrastructure. This installation forms part of TfGM’s continued commitment to improving active travel facilities across the region. The new facility benefits from Falco’s modular product range of shelter and cycle parking products enabling Network Rail to ‘mix and match’ the products to meet the different requirements of cyclists. Falco has completed the fourth cycle hub installation at The Telford Langley School in Telford as part of a new tranche of secure cycle hubs located at key areas across the borough. The scheme which got underway last year involves the design, manufacture, supply and installation of bespoke cycle hubs coupled with associated FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle racks to allow commuters, residents and visitors to quickly and conveniently park their bike whilst on the go. The latest 6m x 4m cycle hub as shown here at The Telford Langley School, is based upon the UK’s most popular cycle hub design – the FalcoHub, which is manufactured from a combination of a hot-dip galvanised steel frame with reinforced safety glass cladding. FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle racks have been installed providing secure accommodation for up to 28 bikes. A convenient FalcoFix 2.0 cycle station has been supplied allowing cyclists to inflate tyres and carry out basic cycle maintenance whilst on the go. The secure cycle hub also comes complete with proximity LED lighting, eye-catching ‘Travel Telford’ branding graphics and powder coating in an Anthracite Grey RAL colour. In addition to the cycle hub here at The Telford Langely School, Falco has also manufactured and installed three other cycle hubs for Telford & Wrekin Council, with other cycle hubs located at Rampart Way – across the bridge from Telford Central Station, at Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre – to the right of the car park entrance, next to the Wellington Town Council building and at Oakengates Station – situated to the right side of the main entrance. The FalcoHub, as shown here for Telford & Wrekin Council, is a contemporary cycle store manufactured from a combination of a galvanised steel frame and reinforced safety glass, designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding area. The FalcoHub was developed by Falco’s in house design team to ensure it met the client’s specification including structural calculations so that the whole design meets the UK/European CPR regulations EN1090 and is CE marked. These are the classic FalcoSail cycle shelters recently manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco for Scottish Premiership team - Kilmarnock Football Club. Falco installed two 6m FalcoSail cycle shelter bays complete with the popular Toaster cycle rack to accommodate 16 bikes per bay. Each bay is made up of a standard 3m starter section with 3m add-on section, complete in a traditional galvanised steel finish. In view of the iconic Rugby Park stadium, the first cycle shelter bay was installed outside the Chadwick stand - towards the north of the stadium, with the second installation adjacent to the main entrance - outside the Frank Beattie Stand, off Rugby Crescent. Kilmarnock FC is a Scottish professional football team founded in 1869 and based in the town of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. In addition to Kilmarnock, Falco has supplied many other professional football clubs with cycle parking infrastructure and street furniture including Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Wolverhampton and Aston Villa football clubs.  Like all Falco structures, the FalcoQuarter cycle shelter not only meets the EN1090 Construction Products Regulations but also comes hot dip galvanised to EN1461 as standard. All products can then be powder coated in any of the 192 RAL colours in our own production facility. The shelter is clad in robust polycarbonate providing a maximum flow of light. With the addition of a simple walkway cover and optional gates front and rear, the FalcoQuarter can easily be made into a very versatile storage compound. Again with up to 5m variants, it is possible to create enclosed, weather proof spaces of any size. There are a wide range of cycle parking systems which can be incorporated into the FalcoQuarter including traditional Sheffield Stands, Toast racks, A-11 racks, Ideal racks, Perfecto stands and FalcoCam cycle stands.
