This is the bespoke bus shelter Falco manufactured, supplied and installed for Millgate Car Park in Thirsk last week, on behalf of North Yorkshire Council. The 5m x 1m bus shelter is based on the traditional FalcoLok design, complete with open front, perch seat, branding graphics, safety glass cladding and a powder coated finish. The client originally contacted Falco to provide a simple and effective bus shelter solution, suitable for a busy market town centre location. Falco provided the client with a free site visit, free HD rendering graphics to help visualise the proposed design and free AutoCAD drawings. The installed shelter is a bespoke contemporary design of the classic FalcoLok shelter, which features clean lines through the glass cladding and supported by stainless steel glass clamps. The steelwork is hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and also meets UK structural design laws with EN 1090 accreditation. Rainwater is collected via innovative integral gutters as part of the roof system and a bespoke bund ensure that the cycle hub is weather proof! Millgate is an 85 space, 24 hour, car park located on Marage Road, located in the busy market town of Thirsk. Millgate offers low cost car parking, electric vehicle charging points and a public convenience facility. Falco continues with the roll out of the next tranche of cycle parking facilities across ScotRail's franchised network of over 300 stations across Scotland. Pictured here are four of the latest installations at Huntly, Nairn, Larkhall, Lenzie and Gourock Stations. The New Year saw the start of ScotRail’s Cycle Parking Upgrade Works with the roll-out of the first tranche of cycle parking facilities across ScotRail's network of over 300 stations. The scheme, which got underway this winter, involves the surveying of stations, proposing solutions and the manufacture, supply and installation of cycle parking systems to help implement ScotRail’s cycling strategy. In order to create a network-wide brand feel to encourage more people to cycle to stations ScotRail’s strategy is to install standard facilities throughout the network so that cyclists know exactly what to expect regardless of which station they use. Two key products of the programme is the innovative FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack and the spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy. The latest two-tier rack offers superior practicality compared to other cheaper models and is exceptionally user-friendly, quieter in operation and offers enhanced security. The FalcoRail cycle canopy was purposely designed to compliment the two-tier system and offers maximum coverage whilst promoting a open spacious and lightweight design and additional snow loading to cope with harsh Scottish Winters! Falco has already carried out the design, manufacture, supply and installation of secure cycle parking facilities for Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Keith and Insch, Huntly, Nairn, Larkhall, Lenzie and Gourock stations, with more than twenty further stations to receive secure cycle parking this spring. Upcoming stations include: Inverness Fort William Glasgow Queen Street Perth Dunkeld Elgin Rosyth Newcraighall Markinch Glenrothes Cupar Barrhead Pitlochry Ladybank Kirkhill Patrick Harvie MSP, Minister for Active Travel, announced a £2million cycling legacy fund to promote and enhance cycling infrastructure and services across Scotland’s Railway. As part of the legacy fund, a bespoke secure cycle hub will be installed at both Inverness and Fort William stations. Falco has completed the roll-out of the UK’s first ever series of smart bike hangars for Brighton & Hove City Council. The scheme which got underway towards the end of 2022, involved the manufacture, supply and installation of smart bike hangars with mobile app access, to provide the seaside resort with a total fleet of 150 bike hangars, equalling 900 secure on-street cycle parking spaces. The 18 month programme involved installing bike hangars across Brighton within four different tranches, at 39 different locations, with hangar number 150 installed on Langdale Road, Hove last week. Each futuristic bike hangar provides Brighton residents with quick and easy accessibility via the users smartphone. The user simply downloads the app, registers for a space, is granted accessibility via the back office and then can access their chosen hangar within seconds. For users without a smartphone, a physical key can be supplied instead. As well as manufacture and installation, Falco is also providing a fully managed service with both app and key rental management for the residents and bike hangar maintenance on behalf of the Brighton & Hove City Council Highways and Infrastructure team. The bike hangars have been extremely popular since installation began in the summer of 2022. More than 95% of spaces have been allocated to residents and over 2000 people are on a waiting list. The programme here at Brighton & Hove, marks the UK’s first ever smart bike hangar scheme roll-out, with a shift towards app and mobile advancement, providing fast and easy access with a users smartphone and completely eliminating the need for physical keys or swipe cards. The smart FalcoPod bike hangar as shown here in Brighton, is a simple and effective facility designed to meet the needs of cyclists who don’t have access to private cycle parking facilities. Operating like a giant bread bin, each hangar is a secure and lockable unit capable of accommodating up to six bikes each and unlike traditional cycle shelters and cycle hubs, the bike hangar can be located directly on residential streets, to provide users with a convenient, directly accessible, cycle parking facility. This month, Falco supplied and installed over 90 spaces of the FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack, for what will become Scotland’s largest hotel, located on Drum’s Candlerigg’s Square site in the heart of Glasgow’s historic Merchant City. The new £300m development, will transform Glasgow’s original flourishing fruit and vegetable market which has lay neglected and unused for 20 years, becoming a derelict site in an otherwise vibrant and thriving neighbourhood. Candleriggs Square, bound by Wilson Street, Hutcheson Street, Candleriggs and Trongate is regarded as the last and most significant piece of the Merchant City regeneration jigsaw and will provide a vibrant mixed-use community bringing together new homes, offices, hotels and local amenities. As part of the state-of-the-art development, a requirement for secure, easy to use, cycle parking for over 90 cycles was required, to be located within an accessible, underground facility. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed a series of over 90 double-sided FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking spaces within an underground facility at the prestigious development, providing employees and visitors with secure and accessible cycle parking. The popular FalcoLevel-Eco design was chosen for its capability to be located within compact areas, such as the underground facility shown here, providing cyclists with twice as many cycle parking spaces that would have otherwise been available when using traditional cycle racks and stands. Double-sided variations of the popular cycle rack were used to fit inconspicuous within the tight constraints of the space envelope available. The recent installation shown here at Candleriggs Square is just one of many underground environments Falco has supplied and installed cycle parking equipment for. Other recent examples include two-tier cycle parking for Macquarie Bank in London, three flagship Selfridges stores across the UK, VelowUp® vertical cycle stands and two-tier cycle racks for the University of Edinburgh, 150 two-tier cycle rack spaces for Marks & Spencer at Paddington Basin in London as well as semi-vertical cycle parking for Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. The FalcoLevel-Eco is a high density and budget friendly two-tier cycle parking system which accommodates twice the number of bicycles compared to any other traditional cycle rack or stand. The FalcoLevel two-tier series is the UK’s best-selling high density cycle rack and is used at the UK’s first ever cycle hub at Leeds City Station as well as the UK’s two largest cycle hubs at Cambridge and Chelmsford Stations.
