Case Studies
Falco is pleased to have been working with Brighton and Hove City Council to install the first dedicated cycle counter displays in the UK. Installed in time for their launch at Bike Week, two cycle counters will record cycling traffic in two key locations in the city – Surrenden Park and Moulsecoomb. Pictured is showing his ‘count’ is Paul Avis, a local cyclist with a keen interest in cycling developments in the area. Brighton is keen to increase its cycling population and the new counters will help traffic managers monitor the times and density of cycling traffic. Additionally the Falco cycle counters also provide the cycling public along with other road users the opportunity to see for themselves on the LED display how their presence contributes to the information. The counts are also relayed via a 3G router, back to the JourneyOn website in real time so that users can monitor cycling traffic via the internet, looking at trends and daily figures. For the traffic management team the cycle counters can provide a huge amount of useful data for analysing cycle behaviour. By recording each cyclist at the time and date it passes the counter, it is possible to build up a very valuable data bank of information. The purpose of the Falco Cycle Counter is to show the number of cyclists on a bicycle path. It shows the number of cyclists per day and year. At the top of the Counter there is a clock indicating time and date. On the reverse it is possible to show city map or other information, alternatively for a two-way bicycle path it is possible to have display on both side of the unit.
Near to Blackfriars Bridge within view of the dome St Pauls Cathedral, the City’s commuter station for the Thameslink line welcomes Falco’s latest installation and the cost effective cycle racks blend in well against their urban surroundings. The FalcoLevel was the product identified to meet the station’s demands as space was the main constraint. The FalcoLevel is a two tier cycle parking system that can allocate twice as many bikes as any other traditional cycle parking products. This is particularly convenient for locations with minimum space due to its unique design. There is a growing requirement for “two tier” cycle parking systems; especially in areas of high popular densities such as; stations, shopping centres and schools. The FalcoLevel can accommodate any type of bicycle, from town bikes to mountain bikes and there is a dedicated locking point so that bikes can be chained to the cycle rack to maximise security. The lower rack has a sloping wheel channel, so the user does not have to bend between the levels which makes this Falco cycle parking system simple and easy to use for all ages. There is also the option to have the FalcoLevel powder coated in any of the 192 RAL colours that Falco provides. The commuters of our capital can now be reassured that their bicycles are securely parked as they carry out their work schedule!

The disabled parking bay cover at Ealing Council HQ. At first Galliford Try asked us to quote for a cycle / bin store specified by thier architect. At the same time we sent a brochure and they then liked the look of the Falcozan, so we did a revised quote for 24m long secure store in mesh and 16m open bin store, which they eventually ordered. This job evolved from the standard 29.5 but during its construction in Holland the customer changed the front legs to 10mm wall thickness to cope with a car impacting at 16km p h. Oak shrouds were requested for all of the roof supports, which we obtained locally. Also strip lighting was required under the canopy. As the road is lined with trees, we had to fit leaf guards to each roof section to prevent the gutters clogging which was most important as the modified front supports were capped off and didnt drain away
