A radical new urban development at the old Tobacco factory in Laren, Holland, required Falco to create a cycle shelter with a green roof in order to blend in within the surrounding courtyard theme. Using the popular FalcoLok cycle shelter with attractive hardwood cladding, Falco produced an aesthetically eye-catching cycle shelter that both complemented the traditional courtyard design and provided secure cycle parking for the local residents. The architects originally contacted Falco in May and expressed the desire for the green roof FalcoLok cycle shelter to be customised in order to meet this unique requirement. The images attached shows the completed cycle shelter well at home within it’s surroundings. Not only does the cycle shelter provide a secure area to park bicycles, but the reverse of the shelter has been modified in order to provide wooden seating for the residents to enjoy. But the truly remarkable aspect of the shelter lies within the green roof that has been customised to accommodate a roof lining of sedum. The sedum roof is the main aspect within the courtyard and creates a really relaxed and natural atmosphere as well as being an environmentally friendly feature. Over the last 50 years, Falco have gained extensive experience in working at project level in collaboration with architects, quantity surveyors and estimators to design project specific cycle parking and street furniture products.
