The FalcoLok was developed by Falco’s in house design team to ensure it met the client’s specification including structural calculations so that the whole design meets the UK/European CPR regulations EN1090 and is CE marked as per UK law. Following the successful installation and operation of Falco's innovative smart FalcoPod cycle hangars at the University of Glasgow's Gilmorehill Campus, Falco has now expanded its partnership with the University of Glasgow by installing a new fleet of cycle hangars at the university's Environmental Research Centre.  Back in September last year, Falco manufactured and installed a series of nine smart FalcoPod Bike Hangars, creating a new network of secure cycle parking infrastructure across the Universities West End campus. Following the success of the first tranche, the university commissioned a fleet of cycle hangars for its Environmental Research Centre – broadening the accessibility of secure, smart access, cycle storage across the Universities campuses. The new cycle hangars, are equipped with Falco's cutting-edge smartphone technology, allowing students and staff to access each cycle hangar with the users smartphone, completely eliminating the need for keys, fobs or swipe cards. The design of each bike hangar includes the Universities own logo, instructional signage, a QR code for easy registration and powder coating in an attractive ‘Fir Green’ RAL colour for additional durability. Each state-of-the-art bike hangar provides University cyclists with quick and easy accessibility via the users smartphone. The user simply downloads the app, registers for a space, is granted accessibility via the back office and then can access their chosen hangar within seconds. For users without a smartphone, a physical key can be supplied instead. The FalcoPod bike hangar, as shown here at The University of Glasgow, is a robust on-street cycle parking solution designed to meet the needs of cyclists who don’t have access to private cycle parking facilities. The improved innovative shape means that users no longer have to remove some baskets or child seats when storing their bike! Falco design is both evolutionary and innovative by nature and the new FalcoPod is no exception. This is the third generation of ‘bike hangar’ type product building on the pedigree of the original street locker the ‘Midi Bike Box’ with some great new features over existing products as follows: Size - fits in half a car parking space and houses 6 bikes, with covered weather protection. Family inclusive – with an ergonomically improved design, the additional space/height (55% more) means there is no need to remove child seats or baskets from the back or front of bikes. Bike security - the six place FalcoSound bike rack has three locking points including the ability to use a ‘D’ lock through the rear wheel and frame. Easy access - single door with integral lock and gas strut for assisted lifting. The effective bike hangar has already been successfully rolled out to the London Borough of Waltham Forest, Brent, Camden, Westminster and Merton Councils.  For more information about the FalcoPod Bike Hangar, the FalcoPod Bike Hangar service or your cycle parking scheme, please contact our helpful sales team on 01538 380080.

Westway - Scotland’s Largest Fully Enclosed Industrial Park Receives Secure Falco Cycle Parking Infrastructure

This month, Falco completed the design, manufacture, supply and installation of 20m of FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 98 secure cycle parking spaces, split across two units at Renfrew’s key strategic industrial, distribution and logistics park. Unit 1 took delivery of an 8m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 36 spaces of secure FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack and Unit 2 received a 12m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, with 56 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco and six spaces using traditional Sheffield stands. The two-tier cycle racks offer employees and visitors with a space-efficient parking solution, allowing cyclists to securely store their bikes in a compact, vertically stacked arrangement. The scheme here at Westway, makes use of the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking system and the popular FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, which when combined together, create an attractive cycle park - providing cyclists to the park with high levels of cycle security, all in a spacious contemporary shelter design. The green sedum roof, an increasingly popular feature for Falco shelters, supports the parks sustainable development plan by providing the many advantages associated with green roof systems as well as insulation for both heat and noise. A sedum roof both reduces water discharge as well as compensating for CO2 emissions. A further benefit of green roof systems is that they traditionally last longer than a usual roof covering and offer a natural view for employees and visitors to the nearby units. The installation of this comprehensive cycling infrastructure at Westway is a testament to the park's commitment to sustainability and its recognition of the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options. The FalcoLevel-Eco is a high density and budget friendly two-tier cycle parking system which accommodates twice the number of bicycles compared to any other traditional cycle rack or stand.  The FalcoLevel two-tier series is the UK’s best-selling high density cycle rack and is used at the UK’s first ever cycle hub at Leeds City Station as well as the UK’s two largest cycle hubs at Cambridge and Chelmsford Stations.
