Falco has recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed a state-of-the-art secure cycle compound and scooter parking facility at Upminster Railway Station. The cycle hub provides secure accommodation for 68 cycles using a secure access system. The National Rail interchange station at Upminster is managed by c2c rail and also used by London Underground and accommodates in excess of seven million passengers each year, with additional inter-modal connections with London Busses right outside the cycle store. Falco supplied a bespoke version of our popular FalcoLok secure store with robust hardwood cladding, together with double doors and power saving LED lighting. FalcoLevel two-tier cycle racks were used inside the compound providing secure accommodation for up to 68 bikes with over two point locking available for every cyclist. Falco also supplied two externally located FalcoToaster cycle racks providing unrestricted cycle parking for up to 20 bikes. Additionally in a dedicated space motorbike locking rails were installed to provide accommodation for up to 8 bikes or scooters. Bike&Go is the newly launched Dutch style cycle hire scheme, based on the successful OV Fiets scheme in the Netherlands and recently launched in the UK by train operating company Abellio. The scheme is available to any operator or commercial organisation that wishes to operate a fully integrated cycle hire programme with full back office support and a full package of cycle parking infrastructure. The cycle stands and shelters are available through Falco and are approved by the operator. Falco has just completed the supply and installation for a number of Bike&Go cycle parking facilities on the Greater Anglia and Northern Rail franchises and the scheme also extends to the Merseyrail network. In the first tranche, 50 stations have been completed with all projects currently fulfilled at stations including; Colchester, Southend Victoria, Manningtree, Romford, Blackpool North, Morecambe and Rotherham. The work involved manufacture and installation of our popular FalcoSail cycle shelter design, with branded vinyl graphics, branded Sheffield Stands, floor markings and signage. Bike&Go is an ingenious cycle hire facility allowing individuals to hire a bike quickly and easily at a participating railway station or other transport hub, before continuing with their journey. The system is operated by Abellio on the client’s behalf and is the most flexible of its kind in the UK. Falco were asked by the project managers to adapt their FalcoSail design which is already installed at over 130 stations on the Northern Rail network. The cycle shelter which now also includes LED lighting is available in 2, 3, 4 and 5m options for different sizes of scheme and additionally the shelter is hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO1461 and powder coated in the special Bike&Go scheme colours. Falco took to the skies last week by completing the design, manufacture, supply and installation of over 680 cycle parking spaces with FalcoGamma cycle canopies at the Airbus Aerospace Park in Filton, for Airbus UK Ltd. Working on behalf of contractor Miller Construction, the new cycle parking facility, spread across two sites, is part of a £70 million pound state-of-the-art engineering and technology campus. Falco was asked to design, manufacture and supply a total of 668 cycle parking spaces spread across two separate sites. The first site included 442 two-tier cycle parking spaces sheltered by 18 double-sided FalcoGamma cycle canopies. The second site consisted of 168 BREEAM compliant cycle parking spaces using traditional Toaster cycle racks and FalcoLite cycle shelters. As well as cycle shelters Falco is also discussing with the client to provide additional external site furniture and canopies for the state of the art campus. Falco has recently manufactured and installed a series of 292 FalcoLevel Premium two-tier cycle parking spaces with FalcoRail cycle canopies for Harpenden railway station in Hertfordshire! Harpenden Station is situated on the Midland Main Line and serves over two million rail passengers each year over four separate platforms. Falco installed a 292 space series of its new FalcoLevel-Premium cycle rack which offers a complete new gear change in usability and design. Falco also supplied a series of FalcoRail cycle canopies providing complete weather protection along with a  FalcoFix cycle repair stand and FalcoBoost public bike pump providing passengers with a complete range of cycling facilities. Falco has recently manufactured, supplied and installed a series of cycle parking, moped parking and shelters to the Royal Mail depot on Montrose Road in Chelmsford. The cycle parking package included six bays of FalcoQuarter shelters powder-coated in the traditional Royal Mail red, 20 stainless steel Sheffield Stands providing secure cycle parking for up to 40 bikes and four moped stands providing secure parking for up to 8 motorbikes. Falco has recently teamed up with four of Scotland’s sports and cycling organisations, to provide a series of bespoke cycle parking racks for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games! Falco designed, manufactured and installed the 95 bespoke ‘Toaster’ style cycle racks as temporary cycle parking for spectators to use throughout the games. Each rack featured an end panel to incorporate the logos of; Glasgow Commonwealth Games Legacy 2014, Transport Scotland, Sustrans and Cycling Scotland. The racks were installed at over 20 of the key sporting locations of the games including;  the Commonwealth Sports Arena, Hampden Park, Celtic Park, Ibrox Stadium, Scottish Exhibition Centre and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome to name a few. Each of the FalcoToaster racks has 5 cycle hoops enabling 10 bikes to be secured, in all a total of 950 cycle spaces! The image attached shows one of the installations outside the famous Ibrox Stadium which was used to host the  Rugby Sevens competition. Since the closing ceremony of the Glasgow 2014 games, Sustrans Scotland, Cycling Scotland and Transport Scotland joined forces to give workplaces across Scotland a chance to bid for and “own a piece of the Commonwealth Games”. Each organisation could bid for up to three of the innovative legacy cycle racks to help boost their cycle facilities for employees and students and encourage the activity of cycling to work.
