This is the attractive new array of cycle shelters Falco recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed for Cambridge Science Park on Milton Road in Cambridge. The client originally contacted Falco with a requirement to provide secure and sheltered cycle parking whilst occupying minimal space. Following a free site visit, the spacious FalcoLite double-sided cycle shelter was identified as the ideal solution to providing maximum shelter coverage without compromising on space.  Utilising the contemporary ‘gull-wing’ style FalcoLite double sided cycle shelter with Toaster cycle stands, the cycle park provides over 100 businesses  with secure, sheltered, cycle parking for up to 32 bikes. These are the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle racks Falco recently manufactured, supplied and installed for Amsterdam Police Force last month! The basement to the station was identified as the only suitable and available location to use as a cycle park, but due to the space restriction of the room, as well as the installation of an air ventilation system currently occupying much of the available space, the use of a traditional cycle rack or stand was deemed not appropriate. Following a free site survey, Falco identified the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack as the most appropriate and user friendly solution to accommodating a maximum number of police bikes within the tight space available. Northern Rail House in York, home of the head office of Arriva Rail North and Network Rail took delivery this week of the UK’s most user friendly two-tier cycle parking system! Falco is pleased to announce the installation of the UK’s very first automated cycle wheeling ramp, for ‘Project Angel’ in Northamptonshire, a £53m state-of-the-art development designed to consolidate Northamptonshire County Council’s departments into one integrated purpose built headquarter. The automated bike wheeling ramp known as the ‘VeloComfort®’ is a huge innovation and Falco is once again delighted to bring what is standard Dutch cycling technology to the UK market. These wheeling ramps provide cyclists with the next generation of accessibility and are designed to assist users with manoeuvring their bikes up and down stairs with virtually no effort. This is particularly important where a bike is either heavy or perhaps has a basket or panniers and makes carrying a bike up stairs or even using a traditional wheeling ramp difficult. The VeloComfort® range comes in two patented innovative designs, one for manoeuvring bicycles up the stairs - VeloComfortUp®, and one for down - VeloComfortDown®! Falco supplied and installed 4.7m of both VeloComfortUp® and VeloComfortDown® designed to meet the client’s exact stair dimensions. The VeloComfortUp® is essentially a mini ‘travellator’ or conveyor belt which starts once the integrated sensors detect a bike and automatically stops if the conveyor is completely free of bicycles. The high quality conveyor (kevlar-based) belt runs in a durable, low-maintenance aluminium double-sided channel and is powered by an electric motor. The entrance and exit of the conveyor are aesthetically, functionally and safely integrated into the system, with the electric motor positioned on the side of the conveyor belt. The VeloComfortDown® is a simple and effective non-electric cycle / bike wheeling ramp designed with a gutter brush to reduce the speed of the bike. The gutter brush is made from a high quality, durable and low-maintenance aluminium double-sided channel, which is equipped with brush strip on both sides. The friction of the gutter brush ensures that the bike slows down, allowing the user to determine his/her own pace during the descent. Falco recently provided NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde with a trio of secure cycle parking facilities to three separate hospitals within the City of Glasgow, following the succession of a competitive tender process! The installations took place at Glasgow Royal Infirmary on both Castle Street and Wishart street, Cowlairs Central Decontamination Unit on Finlas Street and the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Corsebar Road, providing visitors and patients with a number of secure cycle parking spaces. This is the bespoke cycle hub Falco recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed for Ullapool Harbour in Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands. Ullapool Harbour first approached Falco with a requirement to provide visitors with secure cycle parking which also doubled as a waiting shelter so that cyclists can park their bike and take shelter whilst waiting for the ferry. The steel frame of the cycle hub was to be powder coated in the same colour as the existing building next door to create a consistent co-ordinated  theme. The cycle hub is based on the best selling ‘FalcoHub’ design, the shelter provides visitors with up to ten secure cycle parking spaces using the traditional Toaster cycle rack as well as two FalcoNorma benches and branding vinyl graphics. The cycle hub is manufactured from 100% recyclable hot-dip galvanised steel and powder coated in RAL 7035 Traffic Grey to enhance durability. The glass is manufactured from reinforced safety glass which is toughened, laminated and heat soaked.
