The Metro Station is located in the small town of Capelle aan den Ijssel, just east of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and is managed by Dutch Transport Operating Company ‘RET’. Falco was approached by the client to identify ways to make maximum use of the available space and ultimately provide a secure cycle hub for commuters and visitors to the station. Falco’s technical cycle parking team identified a number of products to facilitate a cyclists journey as well as maximise the number of cycle spaces within the hub: FalcoLevel-Premium+ Two-Tier Cycle RackA natural choice to enhance the amount of cycle spaces within any restricted area is to utilise the flagship FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack. The FalcoLevel-Premium+ is well at home within any cycle hub - significantly increasing the amount of cycle spaces available without compromising on security. The Ideal 2.0 is an exceptionally user friendly cycle parking system capable of accommodating all types of bikes. Falco provided the cycle hub with 60 cycle spaces utilising the Ideal 2.0 system. FalcoSound-Low Cycle RackNo cycle hub is complete without providing secure accommodation for all types of bikes! The FalcoSound-Low is a cost-effective and user-friendly solution to providing stable and effective cycle parking for cargo and crate bikes! FalcoToaster Cycle RackTraditional Toaster cycle racks have also been incorporated into the cycle hub to enhance the flexible range of systems available to cyclists. Easy to use, easy to secure a bike to and exceptionally durable, the FalcoToaster cycle rack is always a popular solution amongst cyclists. FalcoIon Cycle Charging PointsAs electric bikes gain in popularity every day, so does the requirement to provide secure charging points at convenient locations. The latest tranche of cycle parking systems and canopies has just been delivered and installed at Partick Interchange Station in Glasgow on behalf of Abellio ScotRail - the National Train Operating Company for Scotland. Two key products of the Abellio ScotRail Cycle Innovation Plan include the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack and the FalcoRail cycle canopy as demonstrated here at Partick Station. A series of 144 spaces of the high density two-tier cycle rack has been manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco this month with 15m of Falco Rail double sided cycle canopy, increasing capacity from 22 to 166 spaces. The facility marks the start of the next wave of cycle parking improvements, which along with Partick, will also include installations at Beauly, Blantyre, Dalmeny, Dyce, Falkirk, Girvan, Greenock Central, Perth and Prestwick Town stations. To date, Falco has already installed a total of 1,696 cycle parking spaces and associated canopies at over 40 stations on the Abellio ScotRail network including recent installations at Haymarket, Elgin, Livingston North, Inverkeithing, Gourock, Linlithgow, North Berwick, Patterton, Howwood and Kirkcaldy stations. The FalcoLevel-Premium+, as installed at Partick Station, is the UK’s most user friendly two-tier cycle parking system which makes use of both steel and aluminium to create a significant reduction in noise pollution and a much smoother transition of the upper tier. All two-tier racks are sheltered within 15m of double sided FalcoRail cycle canopy, providing maximum coverage whilst occupying a minimum of floor space. Transport Scotland awarded Dutch passenger transport group Abellio the opportunity to run the next ScotRail franchise in October 2014. A key element of the Abellio bid was to increase intermodal transport and central to this was a commitment to install over 3,500 cycle parking spaces within the first three years to increase cycle usage from 3% to 10%. Abellio’s commitment to deliver the UK’s most extensive cycle/rail network includes: £1.6m investment in more cycle parking spaces to have 4,600 by 2017-18. New, fully staffed Dutch style “CyclePoints” at the key city hubs, “CycleParks+” at five others and CycleParks at other stations. Introduction of the Bike&Go cycle hire scheme.
