This is the striking new bespoke cycle compound designed, manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco for Leiden University in the Netherlands! Adopting the popular FalcoRail design, two runs of 14m single-sided cycle canopy were positioned face to face with a central walkway cover, creating a lockable, yet airy and spacious cycle compound. Surrounding the cycle compound, an ingenious and distinctive fencing structure was erected, with two sides consisting of powder coated steel mesh and two sides of reinforced safety glass, all mounted onto a powder coated steel frame. All steelwork was powder coated in an anthracite grey RAL colour to enhance durability. Inside the cycle compound, a series of 132 spaces of the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack were installed, providing students with twice as many cycle spaces within the space envelope available, in comparison to using traditional cycle stands or racks. Pictured here in the middle of a July heatwave, is the impressive new cycle compound located outside the Van Steenis Building to the North West of the campus. Leiden University is Holland’s oldest university and consistently ranks amongst the top 100 public research universities in the world by prominent international ranking tables. In addition to Leiden University shown here, Falco has also installed the popular FalcoRail and FalcoLevel two-tier cycle parking system to many other universities across the UK including the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, University of Brighton and Leeds Beckett University. Two key products of the scheme are the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle parking system and the EN 1090 accredited FalcoRail cycle canopy, which have both been used for universities and education establishments throughout Europe. When combined together, the Falco facilities create the ultimate cycle park - providing cyclists with high levels of cycle security in a spacious contemporary canopy design. This is the new array of two-tier cycle parking Falco installed this month for the Australian based investment and financial services group, Macquarie, for their offices in the City of London. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed a series of 118 FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking spaces within an underground facility at the prestigious bank, providing employees with secure and accessible cycle parking. The popular FalcoLevel-Eco design was chosen for its capability to be located within compact areas, such as the underground facility shown here, providing cyclists with twice as many cycle parking spaces that would have otherwise been available when using traditional cycle racks and stands. Single and double-sided variations of the popular cycle rack were used to fit inconspicuous within the tight constraints of the space envelope available. The recent installation shown here at Macquarie is just one of many underground environments Falco has supplied and installed cycle parking equipment for. Other recent examples include two-tier cycle parking for three flagship Selfridges stores across the UK, VelowUp® vertical cycle stands and two-tier cycle racks for the University of Edinburgh, 150 two-tier cycle rack spaces for Marks & Spencer at Paddington Basin in London as well as semi-vertical cycle parking for Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Macquarie Group is a multinational independent investment bank and financial services company headquartered in Australia and is the world’s largest infrastructure asset manager. The FalcoLevel-Eco is a high density and budget friendly two-tier cycle parking system which accommodates twice the number of bicycles compared to any other traditional cycle rack or stand.
