Stoke-on-Trent now joins Wigan, Crewe, Runcorn, Stockport, Carlisle, Birmingham International and Warrington Bank Quay with a new installation of the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle parking system coupled with the UK’s leading FalcoHub cycle hub design. Falco installed a bespoke 17m x 4m FalcoHub cycle hub complete with 72 spaces of the FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack, four Sheffield Stands, a FalcoFix 2.0 cycle repair station, LED lighting and bespoke Avanti branding graphics. In addition, Falco undertook all the civils works, contract planning under CDM as well as M&E works, providing a turnkey solution for Avanti which also covered Landlords Consent and supporting other administrative requirements under the Network Rail GRIP project process. The scheme which got underway towards the end of last year, comprises the manufacture, supply and installation of bespoke cycle hubs and associated cycle parking infrastructure to a series of stations on the rail network, as part of a mission by the new train operating company to revolutionise cycle-rail travel. To date, Falco has provided Avanti West Coast with over 300 cycle parking spaces, with Stafford being next on the schedule. In addition to the Avanti West Coast scheme shown here, Falco’s rail work includes the recent completion of the roll-out of over 350 cycle parking spaces for a number of stations on the Govia Thameslink Railway network, over 600 cycle parking spaces for a number of stations on the Abellio Greater Anglia network and over 1,000 cycle parking spaces on a number of stations on the Abellio West Midlands Trains network. The FalcoLevel-Premium+ is the UK’s leading two-tier cycle rack designed to accommodate twice as many cycles within the same space restraints or any traditional cycle rack or stand. Moving forward, the two-tier cycle racks are designed to be maintenance free to provide minimal cost of ownership to the client (only occasional cleaning required). Additionally should there be any unforeseen damage, the modular nature of each structure means that replacing any damaged items is simple and easy to undertake. These are the 32 FalcoBloc picnic tables Falco supplied to Euston Railway Station back in April 2008. Now fourteen years on, after continuous use all day every day within the capital, the picnic tables are in as good of a condition now as when they were first supplied! Each picnic table was repainted during lockdown to continue to protect each unit from weather and general wear and tear, enabling each picnic table to last another ten years and beyond! Back in 2008, when Network Rail was looking to upgrade the concourse outside Euston station, they approached Falco to develop a bespoke picnic table solution. Based on the original FalcoBloc range of seating, the new design for the main West Coast terminus was specially adapted to meet the needs of the travelling public. Falco’s street furniture design team took the popular FalcoBloc table and adapted it in conjunction with the requirements of Network Rail’s station management team. The solid and functional picnic table design provides a stylish and welcoming environment for travellers to the North and West. The image below shows the original fourteen year old FalcoBloc picnic tables, installed back in 2008, on a crisp January afternoon. Along with Euston station, Falco has also supplied picnic tables to many locations across the UK including Manchester United Football Club, Manchester City Football Club, Loughborough University, Middlesex University and Assured Guaranty Europe (next to the world famous ‘Gherkin’ in the heart of London). More information on the FalcoBloc picnic table is available by clicking here.
