This is the eye-catching cycle hub Falco recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed for the new National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) headquarters in Glasgow this month. Located near to Glasgow Airport, the cycle hub is part of a new multi million pound carbon neutral development for a flagship facility at the heart of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland in Renfrewshire. The contract oversaw the manufacture, supply, installation and re-distribution of over 2,000 cycle parking spaces to 25 different locations - which make up this year’s quadrennial multi-sport event. Falco’s delivery and installation vehicles overcame the logistical challenges required in order to ensure all operating venues throughout the West Midlands had ample cycle parking for spectators to use, throughout each of the 11 days of the international event. Flagship venues as part of the contract included the Alexander Stadium, Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Victoria Park, Coventry Arena, Coventry Stadium, Cannock Chase Forest, Sutton Park, Phoenix Park, West Park and Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The temporary cycle parking infrastructure was made up of the traditional Toaster cycle rack and the A-Frame cycle rack, providing mass and portable cycle parking, capable of being erected and dismantled quickly between events. Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games In addition to Birmingham 2022, Falco teamed up with four of Scotland’s sports and cycling organisations, to provide a series of bespoke cycle parking racks for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Falco designed, manufactured and installed the 95 bespoke ‘Toaster’ style cycle racks as temporary cycle parking for spectators to use throughout the games.
