Case Studies
Falco have recently been working closely with the architects BDP’s Glasgow Office to provide a solution to their canopy requirements at the second largest shopping centre in Scotland - the new Union Square development in Aberdeen. They were looking for a design led solution to provide multiple use shelters to house cycle parking, ticket machines and also to act as a public weather shelter. BDP chose Falco’s Triangle canopy because of its style, versatility and robust manufacture. Canopy for the second largest shopping centre The Union Square Aberdeen shopping centre has become the second largest shopping centre in Scotland and Falco’s own highly skilled installers worked to very tight deadlines to ensure completion ready for the opening of the shopping centre. Falco installed the Triangle design canopies with glass roof and rear walls for added light to meet the requirements of the client. Falco also supplied Triangle-30 stands in stainless steel underneath the Triangle canopies as well as installing Cima Litter bins from our partners, City Design. Canopies for ticket machines The contract also included the supply of 2 Mini Spok shelters to house existing ticket machines on the side of the main shopping centre building. The opening of the shopping centre proved a great success when 60,000 people arrived for the first day. More about the Triangle canopy The Triangle canopy brings the familiar design led ‘triangle’ theme to the fore and uses a range of materials including stainless steel and powder coated galvanised steel with roof cladding options of aluzinc or safety glass. The aesthetic strengths of the design of the Triangle canopy are matched by high functionality. The canopy incorporates integrated gutters with rainwater being channelled inside the structure and discharged at ground level. Additionally, lighting can be incorporated into the central panel of the Triangle canopy with opaque acrylic covering.
The Beresford Surestart children’s centre in Haregate, Leek, was looking for a buggy shelter that was designed to securely accommodate pushchairs. Derived as a smaller version of the stylish and popular FalcoSail canopy, at 3,750mm wide, the buggy shelter can accommodate up to five pushchairs. Buggy Shelter with locking rail Additionally, the FalcoRoller buggy shelter has an optional locking rail for the user to secure the pushchair to if it’s being placed in a non-secure environment. The hot dip galvanised buggy shelter is available with robust polycarbonate roof sheets as standard but acrylic is also available on request. The high quality and sturdiness of the buggy shelter enables it to meet all applications, from schools to hospitals, high streets to parks, the FalcoRoller buggy shelter offers endless possibilities. Classic shelter The FalcoRoller single sided shelter is a simple but classic buggy shelter. With a natural curve and front support, the buggy shelter combines strength with great design lines. Like all Falco products, as a stand alone, bolt down unit, the buggy shelter is simple to install and under normal use will remain maintenance free for many years creating a very low cost of ownership. Over the last couple of years, Falco have supplied a lot of these buggy shelters to the ‘new build’ Sure Start centres throughout the UK which are being built as part of the current development programme.
