Falco is pleased to sponsor Sparrow Park on Derby Street in Leek Town Centre, a new horticultural partnership between charitable enterprise Grow Moorlands and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Sparrow Park is one of a number of projects organised by Grow Moorlands which is designed to offer members valuable horticulture skills and provide responsibility in developing and maintaining a predominant area within Leek Town Centre. The new scheme will see students joining forces and planting and maintaining flower beds in which members have cultivated themselves for the project.

The planting began last week when a group of enthusiastic young people from the Meadows Special School were joined by Councillor Brian Johnson from the Council and Atiqur Rahman from Grow Moorlands to get the scheme underway.

Councillor Johnson, cabinet member for parks and countryside at the Council and a governor at the school, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support students at the Meadows School as they learn horticulture skills and gain accredited qualifications and work experience to help equip them for life after school.

Falco’s Managing Director, Jeremy Green a keen gardener himself noted “Falco is very pleased to support Grow Moorlands, a new local enterprise whose aim is to support children, teenagers and young adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues.

The money donated will be fundamental towards providing  members of the enterprise with horticultural skills, work experience and responsibility - opportunities which may have otherwise not been available”.

Grow Moorlands is a newly establishing charitable incorporated organisation - grown from a partnership project involving Support Staffordshire (Staffordshire Moorlands), SMDC, Buxton and Leek College, NHS Combined Healthcare and The Meadows Special School.
