Falco colleagues came together on Friday 25th September to host a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the company’s UK head office in Leekbrook, Staffordshire, raising an impressive £470 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Organised by Netty Barlow, Financial Controller, the event featured a wide selection of freshly baked cakes, pastries, coffee and sweet treats, with staff and local businesses supporting the fundraising effort by purchasing cakes throughout the day. A fun raffle featuring a variety of prizes including games, toiletries, gifts and alchohol was also drawn.
Macmillan Cancer Support is 98% funded by voluntary donations and provides vital support for people living with cancer, whoever and wherever they are. With more than 3.5 million people currently living with cancer in the UK, and someone diagnosed every 75 seconds, the charity plays an important role in ensuring people receive the care, guidance and support they need at every stage of their cancer experience.
Macmillan works with partners to provide a wide range of services, including the Macmillan Support Line, cancer information booklets, an Online Community and Macmillan professionals who offer practical, medical, emotional and financial support.
Commenting on the event, Netty said: “We decided to host a Macmillan Coffee Morning as we last held one a few years ago and everyone really enjoyed feeling involved — as well as, of course, eating plenty of cake. Macmillan provides such a vital service for people affected by cancer, particularly for those who may not know where else to turn for support. Even small questions can feel overwhelming and having someone available to provide clear answers and guidance can make a huge difference.”
Everyone at Falco would like to thank colleagues, local businesses and everyone who donated or purchased cakes in support of the event. The £470 raised will help Macmillan continue delivering essential support to people living with cancer and their families.
