This month, Falco manufactured, supplied and installed a bespoke FalcoLok cycle shelter, complete with innovative, space-saving, two-tier cycle racks for Lynfield Mount Hospital in Bradford. The shelter was specifically designed to accommodate 18 bikes utilising the FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack. The cycle storage solution was tailored to meet Lynfield Mount Hospital’s requirement, providing a secure and reliable space for staff and visitors to safely store their bikes. One of the standout features of this installation is the use of non-combustible galvanized security mesh steel cladding, which not only enhances the shelter's security, but also ensures compliance with the highest safety standards. With the growing emphasis on safe, sustainable commuting, these features play a key role in giving cyclists peace of mind. Environmentally Conscious Design with a Green Touch Sustainability is a core value in all of our cycle parking installations, and this project was no exception. The shelter was equipped with a green sedum roof, which provides a natural insulation, promotes biodiversity, and enhances the aesthetic value of the installation. It’s a solution that combines functionality with eco-conscious design, helping reduce the hospital’s carbon footprint. Additional Features: Enhancing the User Experience To further elevate the experience, Falco incorporated several additional features that align with modern, sustainable cycling practices: LED Lighting: Ensuring that the shelter remains functional and accessible even during the evening or early morning hours, the energy-efficient LED lighting adds both security and visibility for cyclists. FalcoFix 2.0 Bicycle Pump and Repair Station: This addition allows cyclists to quickly repair their bikes and keep them in top condition, offering a more complete cycling solution. FalcoCharge eBike Battery Locker: In line with the growing use of electric bikes, the FalcoCharge locker provides a secure charging station for eBikes, promoting the adoption of greener transportation methods and supporting the transition to electric mobility. The contemporary cycle shelter is manufactured from a combination of hot-dip galvanised steel to BS EN ISO 1461 and steel mesh cladding, designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding area. The FalcoLok was developed by Falco’s in house design team to ensure it met the client’s specification including structural calculations so that the whole design meets the UK/European CPR regulations EN1090 and is CE marked as per UK law. The popular FalcoLok design has been used across the UK for secure cycle and waiting hubs including; the capitals first series of community cycle hubs as part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest Mini Holland Programme, a bespoke cycle hub for Wolverhampton Interchange Station, a secure cycle hub for Kenley Station and 12m cycle hub for Walkden Station. This month, Falco completed the design, manufacture, supply and installation of 20m of FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 98 secure cycle parking spaces, split across two units at Renfrew’s key strategic industrial, distribution and logistics park. Unit 1 took delivery of an 8m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 36 spaces of secure FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack and Unit 2 received a 12m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, with 56 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco and six spaces using traditional Sheffield stands. The two-tier cycle racks offer employees and visitors with a space-efficient parking solution, allowing cyclists to securely store their bikes in a compact, vertically stacked arrangement. The scheme here at Westway, makes use of the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking system and the popular FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, which when combined together, create an attractive cycle park - providing cyclists to the park with high levels of cycle security, all in a spacious contemporary shelter design. The green sedum roof, an increasingly popular feature for Falco shelters, supports the parks sustainable development plan by providing the many advantages associated with green roof systems as well as insulation for both heat and noise. A sedum roof both reduces water discharge as well as compensating for CO2 emissions. A further benefit of green roof systems is that they traditionally last longer than a usual roof covering and offer a natural view for employees and visitors to the nearby units. The installation of this comprehensive cycling infrastructure at Westway is a testament to the park's commitment to sustainability and its recognition of the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options. The FalcoLevel-Eco is a high density and budget friendly two-tier cycle parking system which accommodates twice the number of bicycles compared to any other traditional cycle rack or stand. The FalcoLevel two-tier series is the UK’s best-selling high density cycle rack and is used at the UK’s first ever cycle hub at Leeds City Station as well as the UK’s two largest cycle hubs at Cambridge and Chelmsford Stations. Falco continues with the roll out of the next tranche of cycle parking facilities across ScotRail's franchised network of over 300 stations across Scotland. Pictured here are six of the latest installations at Cupar, Elgin, Larkhall, Dunkeld & Birnam, Leuchars, Rosyth and Glenrothes with Thornton Stations. The scheme, which got underway last winter, involves the surveying of stations, proposing solutions and the manufacture, supply and installation of cycle parking systems to help implement ScotRail’s cycling strategy. In order to create a network-wide brand feel to encourage more people to cycle to stations ScotRail’s strategy is to install standard facilities throughout the network so that cyclists know exactly what to expect regardless of which station they use. The user experience will be enhanced further by Falco installing multiple way finding signs at every station so that the cyclist will be well informed to where they can use the facilities. Two key products of the programme is the innovative FalcoLevel-Premium+ two-tier cycle rack and the spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy. The latest two-tier rack offers superior practicality compared to other cheaper models and is exceptionally user-friendly, quieter in operation and offers enhanced security. The FalcoRail cycle canopy was purposely designed to compliment the two-tier system and offers maximum coverage whilst promoting a open spacious and lightweight design and additional snow loading to cope with harsh Scottish Winters! Falco has already carried out the design, manufacture, supply and installation of secure cycle parking facilities for a wide number of stations including Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Keith and Insch, Huntly, Nairn, Larkhall, Lenzie and Gourock stations, with further stations to receive secure cycle parking this summer. Upcoming stations include bespoke cycle hubs for Inverness and Fort William Stations, as well as secure cycle parking for Glasgow Queen Street, Barrhead, Pitlochry, Ladybank and Kirkhill stations.
