Falco has completed the manufacture, supply and installation of a bespoke FalcoHub cycle hub at Cambridge Business Park, delivered on behalf of The Crown Estate. The new facility forms a key part of the business park’s commitment to supporting active travel and providing high-quality amenities for its community of occupiers. Located in North Cambridge, Cambridge Business Park is one of the region’s most prominent commercial destinations, – home to a wide range of leading technology, science, financial and professional services organisations housing several previous Falco installations. With excellent transport links to Cambridge North station, the Guided Busway, and local cycling routes, the park has a strong emphasis on sustainable access and modern workplace infrastructure. The new 12.5m x 6m bespoke FalcoHub has been designed to meet the park’s high specification standards and rising demand for secure cycle parking. Inside, the hub accommodates 86 bicycles using Falco’s proven FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack, offering space efficiency and ease of use for daily commuters. To ensure inclusivity for all cyclists, the hub also features two Sheffield stands, providing dedicated parking for four non-standard cycles, including cargo bikes, adaptive cycles or larger frame designs. Supporting on-site cyclist independence, the installation includes a FalcoFix 2.0 public repair station, allowing riders to complete essential maintenance, adjustments and quick fixes while on the go. The users also have the luxury of a robust pump for any tyre pressure adjustments that are required on the go. The external design of the hub reflects both sustainability and architectural quality. The structure is built from a robust, hot-dip galvanised steel frame finished with FSC® certified hardwood cladding, creating a warm, contemporary appearance that integrates seamlessly with the business park surroundings. To further enhance environmental performance, the roof features a green sedum system, improving biodiversity and reducing rainwater run-off, while cutting edge solar-powered lighting provides illumination without reliance on mains electricity further reducing carbon footprint. The completed cycle hub delivers a secure, attractive and future-focused active-travel asset for Cambridge Business Park, supporting The Crown Estate’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, wellbeing and high-quality amenity provision across its portfolio. Falco was commissioned to design, manufacture, supply and install a comprehensive external infrastructure package across Units 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at the Symmetry Park logistics development. The scope included both high-capacity cycle parking, covered bin store solutions and bespoke plant enclosures tailored to serve the multiple occupiers and reflect the premium, sustainable specification of the estate. With the logistics park being a leading-edge, high-profile development, there was a clear requirement for external structures that were not only functional and durable, but also matched the architectural and sustainability ambitions of Tritax Symmetry. The site demanded assets that would perform over the long term, require minimal maintenance, and visually tie into the development’s industrial aesthetic and green credentials. Falco installed the flagship FalcoQuarter cycle shelter at each of the five units, giving each occupier dedicated, weather-protected cycle parking. In parallel, a robust FalcoLok-250 bin store covered system was installed at each location to consolidate waste and recycling facilities in one discreet, but accessible structure. In addition Falco produced special plant enclosures in varying sizes to suit each Unit. Each installation was manufactured in galvanised steel with premium FSC® certified external cladding and installed with full fixings and anchorage designed to suit the site’s concrete hard-standing and landscaping finishes. For this scheme, Falco’s in-house design team worked closely with the client to configure the unit specifically for waste and recycling use within the busy estate. This project further strengthens Falco’s long track record of delivering high-quality storage and cycle parking solutions for some of the UK’s most significant commercial and industrial developments. Falco recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed a robust FalcoLok-600 bin store at Tritax Symmetry Park – one of the UK’s flagship logistics and industrial park developments. The bespoke unit, measuring 6m x 4m, provides a secure and accessible waste management facility for the site’s occupiers. Finished in durable steelwork and clad in FSC®-certified hardwood slats, the bin store complements the high-quality, sustainable architecture of the wider development while ensuring long-term functionality and visual appeal. The untreated hardwood and galvanised steel combination offers little to no maintenance to the end client once the site is handed over. The modular build up of the product future proofs the installation, should the product need extending in the future. In addition, replacement parts are available at a fraction of the cost of a brand new facility should it suffer from any accidental damage. Access is provided via a wide double-door arrangement, allowing easy manoeuvring of waste containers while keeping the store secure and enclosed when not in use. The FalcoLok-600 series is one of the UK’s most versatile storage systems, available in a wide range of lengths and depths to accommodate bins, recycling facilities, bicycles, or general equipment. The project involved the design, supply, and installation of a diverse range of cycle racks, bike stands, e-bike charging facilities and a cycle repair facility. Granta Park, a prestigious science, technology, and biopharmaceutical hub, is located on the scenic banks of the River Granta in Great Abington, and the installation reflects the park’s commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly transportation options for its tenants and visitors. Falco’s installation at Granta Park included a combination of traditional cycle racks, modern e-bike parking and charging solutions, and essential amenities to ensure a safe and secure cycling experience. The infrastructure installed was specifically chosen to meet the needs of the park’s diverse cycling community, promoting ease of access, security, and charging facilities for electric bikes. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed the following products: 104 FalcoLevel-Eco Two-Tier Cycle Racks: The FalcoLevel-Eco racks were installed to create 104 secure cycle parking spaces. These space-saving two-tier racks are a perfect solution for high-density bike parking, offering increased capacity without compromising on safety or ease of use. Eight FalcoSound E-Bike Charging Spaces: Designed to accommodate electric bicycles, the FalcoSound cycle racks feature built-in charging facilities, allowing users to charge their e-bikes while securely parking them. This addition supports the increasing demand for electric bike infrastructure and encourages more people to switch to e-bikes as a sustainable mode of transport. Two FalcoForce Cycle Stands: To further support e-bike riders, two FalcoForce cycle stands were installed, providing parking for up to four electric bikes. These stands are designed to be robust, offering secure parking for heavier e-bikes and ensuring long-lasting durability. Four Sheffield Cycle Stands: Four Sheffield stands were placed throughout the park to accommodate up to eight traditional cycles, adaptive bikes or cargo bikes. This design is widely recognised for its simplicity and practicality, offering a sturdy solution for general bike parking. FalcoFix 2.0 Cycle Repair Station: A key feature of the installation, the FalcoFix 2.0 provides users with the tools needed to carry out basic repairs and maintenance on their bikes. The station promotes self-sufficiency and ensures that cyclists can easily carry out essential bike maintenance whilst on the go. This month, Falco completed the design, manufacture, supply and installation of 20m of FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 98 secure cycle parking spaces, split across two units at Renfrew’s key strategic industrial, distribution and logistics park. Unit 1 took delivery of an 8m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, complete with 36 spaces of secure FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack and Unit 2 received a 12m FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, with 56 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco and six spaces using traditional Sheffield stands. The two-tier cycle racks offer employees and visitors with a space-efficient parking solution, allowing cyclists to securely store their bikes in a compact, vertically stacked arrangement. The scheme here at Westway, makes use of the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking system and the popular FalcoZan-180 cycle shelter, which when combined together, create an attractive cycle park - providing cyclists to the park with high levels of cycle security, all in a spacious contemporary shelter design. The green sedum roof, an increasingly popular feature for Falco shelters, supports the parks sustainable development plan by providing the many advantages associated with green roof systems as well as insulation for both heat and noise. A sedum roof both reduces water discharge as well as compensating for CO2 emissions. A further benefit of green roof systems is that they traditionally last longer than a usual roof covering and offer a natural view for employees and visitors to the nearby units. The installation of this comprehensive cycling infrastructure at Westway is a testament to the park's commitment to sustainability and its recognition of the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options. The FalcoLevel-Eco is a high density and budget friendly two-tier cycle parking system which accommodates twice the number of bicycles compared to any other traditional cycle rack or stand. The FalcoLevel two-tier series is the UK’s best-selling high density cycle rack and is used at the UK’s first ever cycle hub at Leeds City Station as well as the UK’s two largest cycle hubs at Cambridge and Chelmsford Stations. For more information about the scheme here at Westway Park, or how Falco can assist your cycle parking project, please contact our helpful sales team at sales@falco.co.uk.
This is the latest cycle hub designed, manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco, at Guernsey’s largest law firm, Carey Olsen, located in the small town of St Peter Port, on the east coast of the island. Based on the flagship FalcoLok design, the 8m x 4.5m glass clad cycle hub is coupled with the FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle parking system, providing secure parking for up to forty bikes. In addition to the cycle racks, Falco installed four LED vandal proof lighting systems, complete with proximity sensor, along with a maglock featuring the FalcoSmart Bluetooth access system. The new cycle hub makes use of the FalcoSmart app-based locking system, which uses Bluetooth technology to activate the locking mechanism from the users smart phone or tablet, with the benefit that they no longer need to carry keys or fobs. Employees are able to apply for access to the hub via Carey Olsen and having downloaded the ‘App’ are given access rights to the cycle hub for a period of time depending on their requirement. The system has a fully automated back office enabling the administrator to register new locks for new locations as well as adding new users and creating groups and assigning rights. A huge benefit to the law firm is that they are able for the first time ever to assess usage of a cycle parking facility, directly from the back-office app information. The cycle hub was developed by Falco’s in house design team to ensure it met the client’s specification including structural calculations to meet the EN 1090 CPR requirements of UK law. In addition to the cycle hub shown here for Carey Olsen, all Falco cycle hubs can also incorporate a world of features including; smart LED lighting, green sedum roofs, CCTV and Help Point facilities as well as numerous other cost-effective features for the cyclist such as lock holders, helmet lockers, seating and bike repair facilities.
